Life continues
So October is now upon us. God has done a lot of things in my life and my families. This includes what I concider as extended family. My parents have now returned to Fiji to continue in the work there. This was after much time of prayer and counceling. God has seen fit to use them there again. I may never see my parent again on this side of glory, but I can rest assured in the fact that they are doing what they have been called to do.
So here is what God has been doing in my life. As I have stated before, my family and I have been blessed with serving on the bus ministry again. What a blessing to me it has been. It has also opened my eyes to how many people are missing from serving God. Let me explain....
I was given the privilage of working on one route as a worker. Going out and knocking on doors, driving when needed and such. I was then approached a couple times help drive for another route because they had no regular driver. As our pastor has said multiple times " a need seen is an assignment given". I was more than willing to continue door knocking on one route and driving for another. I figured God has a purpose for this and I want to serve where I can and when I can with the talents He has given me.
Now our church has seen some families follow God's directions and leave for ministries elsewhere. We have also seen some young people follow God's calling and head off to mission fields to see what God has for them there. This has opened "positions" in our church bus ministry that needed filling. Such as bus captains, bus drivers, and bus workers. I was "content" where I was serving on the two routes. I was concerned though because if we did not get more people to start serving in the bus ministry, we would have to end a bus route or two. Of course if at all possible we would have seen other routes absorb the riders from the routes that were ended. I watched with great concern as the time slowly ticked away and the day was quickly approaching when we would see bus ministry members gone.
Finally, a family stepped forward and took over one of the routes (Praise God). Then we saw a few more people come forward and offer to be drivers. He was working on the hearts of the people. We were now down to really needing a person to step forward as a bus captain. I ahd thought about it a couple times, but I really was already serving. There were a lot of "holes" that needed filling, but I am only one person. How do I know exactly what God wants? The final Wednesday arrived. The final bus captain was leaving and there was no one to fill his spot. I then approached our bus pastor and asked to meet with him.
That following Friday, I had lunch with Bro. Dave and we discussed the bus minisrty among other things. I let him know where my thinking was. I told him I saw many places to serve, and wanted to help all that I could, but there was only one me. At this point if I could have cloned myself to fill them all I would have. We talked some more and I accepted the position of bus captain for the final route that was in need.
I have captained before, but I really was afraid of making some of the same mistakes that I had in the past. But the past is the past and I am not the same person thanks be to God and Him alone. We hve gone through our first Sunday with me as captain, and what a day it was. I considered everything as new captain initiation (In a joking manner) God helped me to take everything in stride. From a worker oversleeping, the bus not wanting to run properly, and (to top it all off) have a wonderful bus kid cause a disruption during the church service. The last one was a real challenge for me. Before I would have lost control of my own emotions and made the situation worse. I will admit, it was a very humbling position I found myself in. But, to God be the glory great things He hath done in me.
So as all other servants of God I covet your prayers as I trust Him to lead and direct me as I take the reigns of this bus route. God has already blessed me with a great group of workers and a faithful driver. I am looking forward to what God has planned for me and His route and for the church ministries as a whole.
Laterz.....
